We have a great pleasure to invite you for the 8th Workshop on Applications of Scanning Probe Microscopy – STM/AFM 2014 which will be held in Zakopane from Wednesday, December 3 to Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the HYRNY Hotel (http://www.hyrny.pl/). Workshop is organized by the Centre for Nanometer-scale Science and Advanced Materials, NANOSAM, of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Sciences, Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.

Like at the previous meetings (STM/AFM 2000, 2002... 2012) the main goal of the Workshop is to gather scientists who are, or who would like to be involved in surface research with use of the experimental techniques known under a common name of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), such as: Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and other related techniques operating either under ultra high vacuum environment, or in liquid/gas atmosphere. We wish the Workshop to be an interdisciplinary meeting for participants representing different theoretical and experimental disciplines of scientific research. At the last meeting STM/AFM 2012, (see http://www.stmafm2012.nanosam.pl) we had 156 registered participants from 27 research institutions in Poland and the following SPM companies were presenting their products:

The Organizers would like to invite all interested companies to present their instruments and marketing materials during the Workshop. We believe that close relationship between the producers and distributors of scientific equipment and the community of Workshop participants is of great importance to further development of nanotechnology and nanoscience in Poland. There is a possibility for interested companies to choose from the following forms of participation:

1. exhibition of scientific equipment and/or display of brochures, books and other scientific papers (including distribution of marketing materials) – 1250 PLN (~300 Euro) +23% VAT fee; (the above fee covers: the 6m2 booth for exhibition of equipment/materials and posters, a table and two chairs and also the distribution of marketing materials between Workshop participants)

2. 20 min oral presentation during special technical session (abstract needed by 15.10.2014) – 800 PLN (~200 Euro) +23% VAT extra fee;

3. distribution of marketing materials (attached to the conference materials given to participants) for companies not attending the Workshop – 400 PLN (~100 Euro) +23% VAT fee;

Personal cost of participation is 1200 PLN (about 290 EURO per person - full board package based on single room accommodation, in case of double room - 1000 PLN (VAT included)).
